For the cake
Combine in a large bowl
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa power
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
Once mixed add in
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes then add
- 1 cup boiling water
Batter will be thin
Pour batter into two prepared pans. This is a very sticky batter and you really need to butter and flour it or cut parchment on the bottom.
Bake for 30-35 minutes. More for a single cake pan, less for cupcakes.
Frost with chocolate frosting
